Canadian cybersecurity startup Protexxa has successfully completed a $10 million Series A funding round, raising its total capital to $15 million. The investment came from Bell Ventures, Bell Canada, Sandpiper Ventures, and other key players such as BKR Capital, Export Development Canada, The Firehood Angels, and Graphite Ventures. This new funding will support Protexxa’s efforts to enhance its AI-powered security platform, Protexxa Defender.
Protexxa Defender offers a health score for organizations and their employees by identifying exposed secrets and common cyber issues. The platform also provides customized incident response plans, along with tailored training and consulting services to improve cybersecurity across various industries. The additional funds will help Protexxa advance its engineering and data science capabilities.
The company plans to use the investment to boost its sales and marketing teams as it seeks to expand globally, particularly in the United States. Protexxa’s enterprise solution is gaining traction among organizations in the financial, healthcare, and telecommunications sectors, indicating strong market demand for its cybersecurity services.
Protexxa, founded in 2021 by cybersecurity executive Claudette McGowan, focuses on enhancing cyber defenses through improved individual cyber hygiene. According to McGowan, the company’s approach empowers organizations by leveraging their greatest asset—their people—to better combat cybercrime and strengthen overall security.
