McMillan Electric Reports Security Incident

McMillan Electric Company recently informed individuals about a data security incident that impacted some of their personal information. The company emphasized the importance of protecting the privacy and security of the information it maintains and reassured affected individuals that they are taking significant steps to safeguard it. On or around October 29, 2024, McMillan discovered that an unauthorized actor had gained access to their network environment. The company immediately secured the threat and initiated an investigation with external cybersecurity professionals to fully understand the scope of the breach.

After a thorough forensic investigation and document review, McMillan confirmed on January 13, 2025, that the unauthorized actor had accessed certain personal information, including names and social security numbers. Although the investigation revealed no evidence of misuse of the information, McMillan took a cautious approach by offering complimentary identity theft protection services.

The company is committed to ensuring the continued safety of affected individuals’ data and working closely with cybersecurity experts to prevent future incidents.

To mitigate any potential risks, McMillan recommended additional precautionary measures for those impacted, such as placing a fraud alert or security freeze on credit files. The company also encouraged individuals to review their financial account statements and credit reports regularly to detect any irregular or fraudulent activity. By providing these resources, McMillan aims to ensure that those affected remain vigilant and protected.

In the aftermath of the incident, McMillan Electric Company continues to prioritize the security of its systems and personal information. The company’s swift actions to contain the threat, investigate the breach, and offer identity protection services demonstrate its commitment to resolving the issue responsibly. As of now, McMillan assures individuals that no evidence has been found suggesting that any personal data has been misused.
