Gordian Group, a leading provider of Building Intelligence Solutions based in Greenville, South Carolina, recently reported a data breach that exposed sensitive personal and health information. The breach occurred between January 25, 2023, and November 6, 2023, following two separate cybersecurity incidents involving unauthorized third parties. Gordian first detected unusual activity in its network environment during October and November 2023, prompting the company to launch a thorough investigation into the nature and scope of the breach. The investigation confirmed that sensitive personal data had been accessed and may have been acquired by an unauthorized individual during this period.
The compromised information potentially exposed in the breach includes a wide range of personal identifiers, such as names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and driver’s license numbers. In addition, financial information like account numbers and credit or debit card details, along with health insurance information, were among the types of data that may have been accessed. Gordian conducted a review of the affected data to assess the full extent of the breach and identify which individuals had their personal information compromised. The review was completed by September 3, 2024, and the company began notifying impacted individuals shortly thereafter.
On October 3, 2024, Gordian began mailing data breach notification letters to the individuals affected by the breach. The letters provided details about the specific types of sensitive information that had been exposed and offered guidance on protecting personal data. In an effort to mitigate the potential impact of identity theft or fraud, Gordian is also offering affected individuals 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services. These efforts are part of Gordian’s commitment to transparency and customer support in the aftermath of the breach.
