FluidOne, a provider of secure connected cloud solutions, has acquired UK-based managed service provider Orca IT Ltd. The acquisition aims to enhance FluidOne’s IT and cybersecurity managed services, expand its local presence in the Northwest, and boost its professional services expertise. This strategic move aligns with FluidOne’s goal of tripling its size over the next five years, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy.
Orca IT, co-founded by Mark Tunstall and Alex Pimperton, specializes in managed IT services such as support, hosted desktops, cloud solutions, and strategic IT guidance. With this acquisition, FluidOne strengthens its IT Centre of Excellence, adding Orca IT’s expertise to its portfolio and expanding its capabilities in the managed services and cybersecurity sectors. This marks FluidOne’s ninth acquisition since its management buyout in 2019.
The deal follows FluidOne’s earlier acquisition of SureCloud Cyber Services in March 2024, contributing to the company’s impressive growth. Under the leadership of CEO Russell Horton, FluidOne has quadrupled in size, achieving annual revenues exceeding £113 million. Following the acquisition, FluidOne now employs 540 staff across nine office locations, positioning the company for continued expansion and success in the IT services sector.
Mark Tunstall, Managing Director of Orca IT, expressed excitement about the acquisition, noting that joining FluidOne will allow Orca to extend its reach within professional services and expand its offerings. FluidOne’s support will enable Orca to strengthen its IT services and add new solutions like cybersecurity, connectivity, and unified communications. Following the acquisition, Russell Horton will become Chairman of Orca IT, with FluidOne directors Simon Ward and Chris Rogers joining Orca’s board.
