Cencora Exposes Sensitive Information

Cencora, Inc. and its Lash Group affiliate, which work with pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies, and healthcare providers, recently experienced a data breach. This breach, discovered on February 21, 2024, involved the exfiltration of data from their information systems, potentially including sensitive personal information. Upon detecting the unauthorized activity, Cencora immediately initiated containment procedures and launched an investigation with the help of law enforcement, cybersecurity experts, and external legal counsel.

The investigation confirmed on April 10, 2024, that personal information was indeed affected. This information may include first and last names, addresses, dates of birth, health diagnoses, and medications or prescriptions. Cencora has emphasized that there is currently no evidence to suggest that this information has been or will be used for fraudulent purposes. Nonetheless, the company has decided to inform potentially impacted individuals as a precautionary measure and to provide them with guidance on protecting themselves.

In response to the incident, Cencora has taken several steps to reinforce its security measures and prevent future breaches. They are collaborating with cybersecurity experts to enhance their systems and protocols. Furthermore, to support those whose information was compromised, Cencora is offering 24 months of free access to Experian IdentityWorks credit monitoring and remediation services. These services will alert individuals to any changes in their credit files and provide proactive fraud assistance.

Cencora’s swift action following the breach reflects their commitment to safeguarding personal information and maintaining trust with their partners and clients. The company continues to monitor the situation closely and is dedicated to improving its cybersecurity defenses to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
