In Amman, Jordan, HRH Crown Prince Hussein, the Regent, inaugurated the second edition of ARMYTHON 2024, an international cybersecurity competition designed for military and security professionals. This year’s event features 20 teams from 13 countries, engaging in complex challenges to enhance their skills in countering cyber threats and safeguarding sensitive systems. The competition is hosted by the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB), which is focused on bolstering Jordan’s role as a regional cybersecurity hub and fostering international partnerships.
Brig. Gen. Ayman Al Batran, chairman of the competition’s higher steering committee, highlighted JODDB’s commitment to raising cybersecurity awareness and developing solutions through local and international initiatives. He emphasized the bureau’s goal to make Jordan a key player in cybersecurity and facilitate expertise exchange on a global scale. The competition aims to strengthen Jordan’s position as a leader in cybersecurity innovation and cooperation.
Rateb Abu Al Ragheb, head of the ARMYTHON 2024 organizing committee, detailed that the event spans three days and includes observers from Kazakhstan and Australia, alongside judges from Jordan, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The challenges are crafted by esteemed Jordanian experts in collaboration with Princess Sumaya University for Technology, ensuring a high standard of competition. Special panels will also address various cybersecurity domains, offering valuable insights and discussions.
The launch event was attended by a diverse group of senior officials, military officers, ambassadors, and military attachés. Their presence underscores the importance of ARMYTHON 2024 in advancing cybersecurity measures and strengthening global security collaboration. The competition not only showcases top talent but also reinforces Jordan’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity capabilities regionally and internationally.
