Ticketmaster Faces Fraud Claims Over Tickets

Several concertgoers have reported incidents of fraudulent ticket transfers through Ticketmaster, with one San Diego resident, Breauna Hannon, sharing her experience. Hannon had purchased tickets for a Korn concert scheduled for October 5, 2024, at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. She discovered the tickets had been transferred to another account without her permission after receiving an email notification. Hannon was particularly distressed because her friend, who was flying in from Arkansas, had already made travel arrangements, including flights, hotels, and rental cars.

Hannon’s case appears to be part of a larger issue, as multiple individuals have reached out to Eyewitness News with similar complaints. After contacting various media outlets, Hannon received a follow-up notification indicating that her tickets had been restored to her account, but she has not received an official response from Ticketmaster. The incident has raised concerns among customers, particularly in light of a massive data breach at Ticketmaster months earlier, in which sensitive customer information, including credit card details and passwords, was compromised.

The breach appears to have contributed to the fraudulent activity, as Hannon speculated that the exposure of sensitive data allowed unauthorized access to customer accounts. She only became aware of the breach after researching online, connecting the dots between her situation and the data leak. This breach had affected more than 500 customers and left many questioning the security measures in place at Ticketmaster. As a result, customers are concerned about the safety of their personal and financial information, especially when it comes to purchasing tickets for large-scale events.

Another concertgoer, Jaden Cheng from Santa Ana, reported a similar issue regarding tickets for a Seventeen concert set for November. Cheng had spent over $1,000 on the tickets but was devastated to find that the tickets were gone, with no clear recourse for recovery. She expressed frustration over the lack of action from Ticketmaster, as she and her friends felt helpless in resolving the situation. Eyewitness News has reached out to Ticketmaster for comment but has yet to receive a response, leaving customers uncertain about the company’s approach to addressing the growing concerns.
