O’Connor Corporation recently reported a data breach to the Attorney General of Maine, revealing that sensitive personal identifiable information (PII) may have been compromised in its systems. The company, which is based in Canton, Massachusetts, first noticed a disruption in its network on December 2, 2024, leading to the initiation of an internal investigation. The breach occurred between November 23 and December 1, 2024, and O’Connor confirmed that an unauthorized third party may have accessed and acquired PII during this period.

O’Connor Corporation, established in 1904, is a mechanical services provider specializing in complex planning, pricing, and execution for industrial clients.

The company is involved in various sectors such as powerplant maintenance, turbine and generator services, and municipal water systems, and is part of O’Connor Companies, which includes Beacon Piping and O’Connor Safety. Despite the breach, O’Connor continues to operate with over 50 employees across its various service sectors.

The breach review, completed on January 24, 2025, confirmed that the exposed information included individuals’ names, Social Security numbers, and financial account details. This data was located within the compromised systems, though the specific individuals affected are still being identified. The company has since notified impacted individuals, providing details about the compromised data and offering them 12 months of complimentary identity monitoring services.

On January 31, 2025, O’Connor began mailing data breach notification letters to individuals who were potentially affected by the breach. The company is actively working to mitigate any future security risks and has taken steps to strengthen its network security. The breach notice assures individuals that O’Connor takes privacy and data security seriously, and it continues to monitor and address the situation with the help of cybersecurity experts.
