7 Steps to Take During a Cyber Incident

Good Boys. Good Boys. What you gonna do? What you gonna do when the cyber attackers come for you?

Seriously, what should you do if you notice that you are on the receiving end of a cyber attacker? Should you unplug your device, set it on fire or run to the police? Do you have an incident response plan? Well, as tempting as those options may sound, they might not be the best course of action. Instead, we’ve got seven practical steps you can take to help you weather the storm of a cyber attack. So, sit back, relax, and let’s dive into the world of cyber security – minus the fire extinguisher!

7 Steps To Take When Facing A Cyber Attack

Disconnect from the Internet
If you suspect that your device has been compromised, disconnect from the internet immediately.
This will prevent the attacker from accessing your data or continuing to carry out their attack.

Change your passwords
Change the passwords for all your accounts immediately, and ensure that you use strong passwords that are not easily guessable.
Also, enable two-factor authentication wherever possible.

Scan your system for malware
Use an antivirus software to scan your device for any malware or viruses that may have been installed by the attacker.

Backup your data
Make a backup of all your important files and documents, and keep them in a secure location.
This will help you to recover your data if it is lost or corrupted during the attack.

Contact your bank and credit card companies
f you suspect that your financial information has been compromised, contact your bank and credit card companies immediately, and report the incident to them.

Contact law enforcement
If you believe that a crime has been committed, contact your local law enforcement agency and report the incident to them.

Seek professional help
If you are unable to resolve the issue on your own, seek the help of a cybersecurity professional or an IT consultant.
They can assist you in identifying and mitigating the attack and implementing security measures to prevent future incidents.
