YouTube has introduced a new AI troubleshooting tool aimed at helping users recover their accounts if they’ve been hacked. The “support assistant” chatbot guides users through the process of securing their login and restoring their account. Users can access this tool through the YouTube Help Center by selecting the “chat with our hacked channel assistant” option.
Once engaged, the chatbot will ask users a series of questions to verify their identity and their account details. It helps to both secure their Google login and reverse any unauthorized changes made by the hacker. Additionally, the tool provides recommendations to enhance account security to prevent future breaches.
Currently, the AI tool is available only in English and may have limited features for certain users. However, YouTube, a subsidiary of Google, plans to expand the availability of this feature to all users in the future. This step is part of YouTube’s broader effort to streamline the account recovery process.
Social media accounts, including those on YouTube, are frequent targets for cybercriminals who use them to conduct phishing attacks or spread malware. By implementing this new tool, YouTube aims to mitigate the impact of these attacks, which can lead to significant losses for users, especially content creators and influencers.
