William Buck Investigates Cyber Incident

William Buck, a consulting firm based in Australia, is currently investigating a cyber incident that involves unauthorized access to its IT systems. Upon discovering the breach, the company swiftly activated its incident response plan and mobilized its Crisis Management Team. The primary focus of the team has been to secure the company’s systems and to understand the full scope of the unauthorized access. To ensure a thorough response, the company also enlisted external cybersecurity experts to assist with the investigation and to guarantee that all appropriate measures are being taken to safeguard their data and systems.

At this point in the investigation, William Buck has identified a limited number of files that may have been impacted by the breach.

The company is prioritizing its efforts to determine the extent of the data involved and has begun notifying affected clients directly. While the company reassures stakeholders that its systems remain operational and there should be no interruption to its services, it has warned clients to be vigilant for potential impersonation attempts using the company’s emails. The company has advised clients to report any unusual communications or suspicious activities immediately.

In line with its commitment to cybersecurity, William Buck has notified the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) and other relevant government authorities and law enforcement agencies. As a proactive precaution, the company has also obtained an injunction to prevent unauthorized access or dissemination of any data potentially compromised during the breach. This injunction, which covers both Australia and New Zealand, serves to protect William Buck’s clients and ensure that any attempts to access or distribute impacted data would result in legal consequences.

Despite these protective measures, William Buck has not yet detected any disclosure of compromised data.

The company is continuing its investigation and has pledged to provide stakeholders with further updates as new information becomes available. William Buck has emphasized its dedication to ensuring the security of its clients’ data and maintaining transparency throughout the process. Clients have been encouraged to stay alert for any suspicious activity and to reach out to their William Buck partner if they notice anything unusual. For media inquiries, Hugh Bastiaan, the Group COO, is available for contact.
