Varo Bank Data Breach Exposes Sensitive Data

Varo Bank, N.A. recently reported a significant data breach that compromised sensitive information belonging to 7,007 individuals. On March 12, 2024, Varo Bank detected unusual activity within a subset of its customer accounts, prompting immediate action to block the unauthorized access and initiate a comprehensive investigation. The investigation revealed that an unauthorized party had accessed and copied confidential information, including full names, Social Security numbers, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and bank account numbers.

In response to this breach, Varo Bank has taken several steps to mitigate the impact on affected customers. The bank promptly began a thorough review of the incident, assessing the security of customer information and identifying potentially affected individuals. As part of its response, Varo Bank is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services through TransUnion to help protect the affected individuals from potential identity theft and fraud. Customers are encouraged to enroll in these services and remain vigilant by regularly reviewing their account statements and monitoring their credit reports for any suspicious activity.

Markovits, Stock & DeMarco, LLC, a law firm with extensive experience in data breach class action litigation, is now investigating claims on behalf of the victims of this breach. The firm urges anyone who received a data breach notification from Varo Bank to contact them for a free, confidential consultation to understand their legal rights and explore potential remedies. It is crucial for those impacted to take advantage of the resources and support offered to mitigate any potential damage resulting from the breach.

Varo Bank has communicated the breach to the relevant authorities, including the National Data Protection Authority, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The bank’s swift actions and transparent communication demonstrate its commitment to addressing the incident and protecting its customers’ information. As the investigation continues, Varo Bank remains dedicated to enhancing its security measures to prevent future breaches and maintain the trust of its customers.
