High-level envoys from the United States and China are convening in Geneva to discuss artificial intelligence (AI), focusing on the risks associated with this rapidly evolving technology and the establishment of shared standards to manage it. This meeting, initiated under an inter-governmental dialogue agreed upon during a summit between President Biden and President Xi Jinping, underscores the importance both nations place on AI for national security and economic growth. Officials from the Biden administration plan to prioritize the development of safe, secure, and trustworthy AI, emphasizing voluntary commitments with leading industry players and safety testing of AI products to address potential risks.
