Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) announces a significant cyber victory, claiming to have breached the servers of Russia’s Ministry of Defense (Minoborony) and accessed sensitive documents. The operation, described as a “special operation” carried out by GUR’s cyber-specialists, reportedly yielded a trove of secret service information, including software details, official documents, and organizational structures within the Russian military apparatus. Notably, the obtained data purportedly exposes the software used for data protection, along with documents revealing the complete system structure and personnel hierarchy of Minoborony.
The press release highlights the role of Timur Vadimovich Ivanov, the Russian Deputy Minister of Defense, in facilitating the alleged cyber attack, although specific details regarding the operation remain undisclosed.
