Following the discovery, UKG initiated an investigation and began sending out data breach notification letters to impacted individuals, offering 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring through Identity Defense Complete.
The breach stemmed from an inadvertent sharing of a file containing confidential employee information with other customers, which UKG Inc. learned about on October 30, 2023. As a result, the compromised files were reviewed to identify affected individuals and ascertain the extent of leaked information, which varied depending on the individual. UKG Inc. promptly took steps to inform all affected parties, aiming to provide transparency and support to those impacted by the breach.
