Turkish Hackers Target Israeli Cinemas

Turkish hackers breached the system of a prominent cinema chain in Tel Aviv, using it as a platform to broadcast a threatening message. The hackers, allegedly linked to the threat actor MeshSec, displayed a poorly written Hebrew message, accompanied by footage from previous Hamas-led attacks, accusing the audience of being “terrorist killers.”

The threat promised continued disruptions, including limiting internet and banking access, until perceived injustices were addressed. Although authorities swiftly removed the messages, the incident has sparked a police investigation.

The incident underscores the growing trend of hacktivism amidst the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with various groups claiming responsibility for cyber attacks on both sides.

Pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli hacktivism has targeted governmental, media, and critical infrastructure systems. This attack, disrupting a popular cinema chain, highlights the potential real-world consequences of cyber conflicts intensifying alongside physical conflicts.
