Tor Project Releases Tor Browser 13.0.15

Tor Project has unveiled Tor Browser 13.0.15, a significant update aimed at enhancing user security and privacy. This new version, available for download from the Tor Browser website and distribution directory, introduces a range of improvements and bug fixes to elevate the browsing experience. Central to this release is the integration of Firefox 115.11.0esr, which brings vital security patches and safeguards against potential threats.

One of the notable fixes in Tor Browser 13.0.15 addresses a bug related to global private browsing, ensuring that the IndexDB’s private directory is properly removed upon browser shutdown. This enhancement is crucial for bolstering privacy, particularly for users engaging in sensitive browsing activities via Tor. Additionally, the introduction of the HomePage module for new identity checks enables users to reset their browsing identity more reliably, thereby enhancing anonymity and security as needed.

Furthermore, Tor Browser 13.0.15 includes a fix for a regression in the Onion Services authentication prompt focus, streamlining the authentication process and enhancing security. The release also incorporates essential security backports from Firefox 126 for both desktop and Android versions, strengthening the browser’s defenses against external threats. With these updates, Tor Browser reaffirms its commitment to providing a secure and user-friendly browsing experience, empowering users who prioritize privacy and security online.

Users are encouraged to download and install the latest version of Tor Browser to take advantage of these new features and improvements, ensuring they remain protected in today’s ever-evolving landscape of internet security threats. The Tor Project welcomes user feedback to further refine and enhance future updates, emphasizing transparency and community involvement in shaping the browser’s development.
