Tech in Asia recently suffered a data breach that exposed the personal information of over 221,000 users. The breach was reported by a hacker using the alias “Sanggiero,” who is associated with the notorious hacking group IntelBroker. The compromised database included user roles, full names, display names, email addresses, and registration dates, although no passwords were leaked.
The breach, which occurred in June 2024, was disclosed on dark web forums, including Breach Forums. Tech in Asia, a technology news platform with operations in Singapore and Jakarta, confirmed the breach and assured users that the primary website remains secure. The company is notifying affected individuals and is taking measures to enhance security.
The attack exploited vulnerabilities in Tech in Asia’s API and other internal bugs, allowing unauthorized access to user data. While passwords were not exposed, the incident underscores the importance of continuous cybersecurity measures to safeguard sensitive information.
IntelBroker, the hacking group behind the attack, has previously targeted high-profile organizations and government agencies. This breach highlights the ongoing threat posed by sophisticated cybercriminals and the need for businesses to regularly update their security practices to protect user data and maintain trust.
