Talalay Data Breach Risks Personal Info

Talalay Global, Inc., a latex and sleep product manufacturer based in Shelton, Connecticut, recently discovered a data breach that may have exposed sensitive personal and protected health information. On June 18, 2024, the company began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted by the breach. The potentially exposed data includes names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license or state ID numbers, alien registration numbers, passport numbers, financial account details, and health insurance information.

Talalay Global, founded in 1975, is known for being the world’s only U.S. producer of Talalay latex, a natural comfort material derived from the tropical rubber tree. The company prides itself on its eco-friendly manufacturing process, which takes place in its Shelton, Connecticut facility. Talalay latex is widely used in high-end mattresses, providing the top comfort layer or even serving as the entire mattress.

The company’s products extend beyond mattresses to include pillows, mattress toppers, and pet beds. Talalay Global employs over 200 individuals and continues to lead the market in comfort materials used in bedding products worldwide.

The recent breach has raised concerns among those affected, as the compromised data includes highly sensitive information. Talalay has urged those potentially impacted to take precautions, although details of any misuse of the data have not been disclosed. The incident highlights the importance of stringent data security measures in protecting consumer information.
