Swisspro, a company under the BKW Building Solutions Group umbrella, encountered a significant cybersecurity breach in early April, as confirmed by BKW in response to inquiries from inside-it.ch. The attack, identified within Swisspro’s older IT infrastructure, was attributed to ransomware, prompting swift action from the company’s media team.
Despite the breach, BKW emphasized that the incident did not impact the ongoing operations of Swisspro or any other BKW-affiliated entities. Notably, BKW’s recent integration of Alphatrust, Ngworx, and Swisspro Solutions with UMB in 2022 remains unaffected. The company reiterated its commitment to maintaining service delivery to its clientele amid the cybersecurity incident.
Upon detection, BKW promptly engaged relevant authorities and established a dedicated task force to contain the breach’s scope and assess potential ramifications. All BKW systems continue to operate normally, with ongoing surveillance for any anomalies in the infrastructure. Immediate measures, including isolating affected systems and password changes, were implemented by the task force to address the breach’s immediate impact.
Furthermore, BKW assured stakeholders that there were no signs of outbound attacks targeting customer systems or any other BKW subsidiaries. However, the extent of data exfiltration remains under investigation, forming part of the ongoing analysis to ascertain the full impact of the cyber incident.
