Sutton Dental Arts Reports Data Breach

On July 22, 2024, Sutton Dental Arts reported a significant data breach to the Attorney General of Oregon, revealing that sensitive personal information within its systems may have been compromised. The breach, which occurred on April 11, 2024, was detected on the same day. Sutton Dental Arts has not publicly detailed the specific types of personal information exposed but has indicated that it may include a range of sensitive data, such as names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state-issued IDs, and financial information.

The dental practice has since initiated a series of actions to manage the fallout from the breach. As part of its response, Sutton Dental Arts began mailing notification letters to the individuals affected by the incident on July 17, 2024. The notification process aims to inform those impacted about the breach and the potential risks to their personal information, in accordance with state reporting guidelines.

While the exact details of the information involved have not been disclosed, state guidelines suggest that the exposed data could include not only personal identification and financial details but also health-related information and unique biometric identifiers. Sutton Dental Arts is taking these concerns seriously and working to mitigate any potential risks resulting from the breach.

Based in Roseburg, Oregon, Sutton Dental Arts provides a comprehensive range of dental services to residents of Sutherlin, Winston, and surrounding areas. The practice offers both routine and specialized dental care, including preventive services, cosmetic treatments, and emergency procedures. The firm is committed to addressing the breach and enhancing its security measures to protect patient information going forward.
