Sunrise Erectors Reports Data Breach

Sunrise Erectors, a Massachusetts-based construction company, reported a data breach to the Attorney General of Vermont following an unauthorized access incident. The breach occurred around August 7, 2024, when the company experienced a network disruption, which led to the discovery that personal identifiable information (PII) might have been compromised. An investigation was launched to determine the full scope of the breach, and it was found that sensitive data may have been accessed by an unauthorized individual during the incident. The company took immediate action to assess the damage and identify the individuals affected.

The personal information potentially exposed in the breach includes names and Social Security numbers. Sunrise Erectors reviewed its systems to determine the exact data that was compromised and began notifying those impacted. On September 23, 2024, the company sent breach notification letters to the affected individuals, informing them about the incident and the types of data that may have been accessed. As part of their response, Sunrise is offering complimentary credit monitoring services to those affected in an effort to mitigate any potential risks from the breach.

Sunrise Erectors, founded in 1996, is a family-owned business that specializes in the furnishing and installation of engineered architectural exterior wall systems across New England. In addition to façade systems, the company provides services such as engineering, lab testing, custom fabrication, and the design of full-scale mockups. Headquartered in Canton, Massachusetts, Sunrise employs over 200 people and has a second location. Despite the breach, the company continues to operate while reviewing and strengthening its security protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The incident highlights the risks associated with handling sensitive personal data and underscores the importance of proactive cybersecurity measures. Sunrise Erectors has committed to improving its data security infrastructure to safeguard against unauthorized access and to ensure greater protection for its clients’ information. Affected individuals are encouraged to activate the complimentary identity monitoring services offered by Sunrise and remain vigilant in monitoring their personal accounts for any signs of misuse.
