South Texas Oncology and Hematology (STOH) has experienced a data security incident that may have led to unauthorized access to sensitive personal information. While no fraudulent misuse has been detected so far, STOH is informing affected individuals about the incident and providing resources to protect against potential misuse.
The cybersecurity incident was detected on February 15, 2024, when STOH noticed unusual activity on its network. In response, STOH disconnected all network access and engaged a specialized third-party cybersecurity firm to secure the environment and conduct a thorough forensic investigation to determine the incident’s nature and scope.
During the investigation, STOH notified law enforcement and various regulators in March and April 2024 and posted a notice about the incident on its website. The investigation aimed to identify the extent of the breach and the individuals affected by it.
By June 2024, STOH completed its investigation and identified the individuals whose information may have been compromised. STOH continues to provide support and resources to those affected, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and taking precautionary measures to safeguard personal information.
