Sono Bello Reports Employee Data Breach

In September 2024, Body Contour Centers, LLC, operating as Sono Bello, reported a data breach to the Attorney General of Massachusetts, revealing that an unauthorized individual accessed an employee’s email account. The breach, which occurred between May 14 and May 16, 2024, led to concerns over the security of sensitive personal identifiable information (PII) within the company’s systems. Upon identifying the breach, Sono Bello initiated an investigation to determine the extent of the compromised data and to identify affected individuals.

The investigation revealed that the unauthorized actor gained access to personal information, including names and Social Security numbers, through the employee’s email account. While the specifics of the breached data varied for each individual, these two data elements were consistently affected. To address the situation, Sono Bello began mailing data breach notification letters to those impacted, providing details of the specific information exposed during the breach.

In addition to the notifications, Sono Bello is offering 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services to affected individuals. The company continues to assess the full scope of the breach, working to ensure the security of personal information moving forward. As part of their response, Sono Bello is actively providing support and resources to those whose data was compromised during the incident.

Sono Bello, headquartered in Kirkland, Washington, is a leading provider of cosmetic surgery services, specializing in procedures such as liposuction, tummy tucks, and laser fat removal. With more than 100 locations across the U.S. and over 1,000 employees, the company has performed over 300,000 procedures to date. This breach highlights the potential risks to sensitive medical and personal data in the healthcare and cosmetic surgery industries, prompting concerns over data protection and privacy.
