Two prominent Singaporean companies, Jumbo Group and Mustafa, have fallen victim to cyber attacks. Jumbo Group disclosed a recent ransomware incident in a bourse filing, activating its business continuity plan promptly. While the extent and duration of the attack remain undisclosed, preliminary investigations indicate no evidence of data being unlawfully removed. Additionally, the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore has been notified of the incident.
On a separate front, the Mustafa group of companies, renowned for its shopping mall in Little India, faced a data leak. A cyber attacker claimed to have stolen personal information from Mustafa customers and employees, as reported on a hacker forum. The leaked data included sensitive details like full names, NRIC numbers, and home addresses, raising concerns about privacy breaches.
In response to inquiries, the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) confirmed investigating the incident involving Mustafa and reached out to the group for further details. Mustafa has taken proactive measures, engaging external cyber-security professionals and auditors, and initiating a comprehensive review of its IT systems. Despite ongoing investigations, the group has reported the matter to relevant authorities and refrained from disclosing further details regarding the attack or any ransom payments.
