S&F Concrete recently reported a data breach to the Attorney General of Vermont, indicating that sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information within its systems may have been accessed by unauthorized parties. The breach was discovered following suspicious activity detected in the company’s computer systems earlier this year, prompting S&F Concrete to launch an investigation into the incident’s nature and extent. This investigation revealed that sensitive information may have been compromised between May 5 and May 20, 2024, leading the company to review its data to ascertain the specific individuals affected.

Based in Hudson, Massachusetts, S&F Concrete specializes in various concrete-related services for multiple industries, including commercial, healthcare, and hospitality. Founded in 1965, the company has grown to employ over 200 individuals and offers services such as concrete flatwork, architectural concrete, specialty flooring, and concrete pump rentals. The recent breach has raised significant concerns, as the information potentially exposed includes names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and financial account details, highlighting the vulnerabilities in the company’s data security practices.

On August 7, 2024, S&F Concrete began mailing data breach notification letters to individuals whose information may have been compromised. The letters not only informed recipients about the specifics of the sensitive information involved but also detailed the company’s response to the breach. To assist those affected, S&F Concrete is providing 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services, aimed at helping individuals safeguard their identities in light of the breach.

This incident underscores the critical importance of robust cybersecurity measures for businesses handling sensitive personal information. As S&F Concrete works to strengthen its security protocols and enhance its data protection practices, the company is committed to maintaining transparency with its clients and stakeholders. Through this proactive approach, S&F Concrete aims to rebuild trust and ensure that similar incidents are mitigated in the future.
