Conner Strong & Buckelew Companies, LLC (CSB) recently disclosed a data breach after unauthorized access was detected in certain employee email accounts. The breach, reported to the Attorney General of Maine, resulted in the exposure of confidential consumer data, including names and Social Security numbers. CSB promptly initiated measures to secure affected accounts and collaborated with third-party data security experts to investigate the incident further and assess potential compromises to consumer information.
During the investigation, CSB identified unauthorized access to employee email accounts occurring between February 7, 2022, and March 30, 2022. This unauthorized access allowed the exposure of confidential information contained within emails and attachments to the unauthorized party. In response, CSB began a thorough review of the compromised files to determine the extent of the breach and identify affected individuals.
Following the confirmation of sensitive consumer data being accessed, CSB commenced the process of notifying individuals impacted by the breach. Data breach notification letters were sent out to all affected individuals on June 26, 2023. These notifications aim to inform individuals about the breach and provide guidance on steps they can take to mitigate potential risks associated with the compromised information.
