Saudi-Bahrain AI Security Collaboration

Saudi Arabian students, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity, have joined forces with Bahrain in a collaborative effort to research and assess the security and risks associated with large language models (LLMs). The students, affiliated with King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, participated in workshops at the Nasser Vocational Training Centre (NVTC) in Bahrain.

The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance students’ proactive capabilities in identifying and evaluating potential risks across diverse platforms. The practical sessions involved the use of Amazon Cloud Services for monitoring, the implementation of network security measures on Amazon Web Services, and the development of tools for communication platforms. During their delegation visit to NVTC, the students engaged in hands-on activities to gain practical experience in applying LLMs systematically.

The collaboration focuses on empowering students with technical skills and integrating theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. The university commended NVTC for its efforts in fostering the development of young talents and providing them with valuable skills. The initiative underscores the importance of proactive risk assessment in the field of AI and cybersecurity, emphasizing the practical application of security measures and tools in real-world scenarios.

The joint venture between academia and industry in the Gulf region signifies a commitment to preparing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals with hands-on experience in dealing with the challenges posed by advanced technologies like large language models. The use of Amazon Cloud Services and AWS for practical training reflects the relevance of industry-standard tools in securing web infrastructure and monitoring potential risks associated with AI applications.

Overall, the collaboration aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills, ensuring that students are well-equipped to tackle the evolving landscape of cybersecurity threats in the AI domain.
