Multiple services for the San Joaquin County Superior Court in California remain offline as officials work to address a cybersecurity incident that began on Wednesday.

The court has been experiencing connection issues that have affected various services, necessitating the rescheduling of remote court appearances for some individuals.

In a recent update, court officials indicated that they are still investigating the source of the issues but are leaning towards a cybersecurity incident as the cause.

They emphasized that immediate and proactive measures were taken to contain the event, including isolating their systems from the internet, which has left a portion of their network offline.

While court officials have initiated various manual workarounds to facilitate operations during the disruption, certain services remain unavailable to the public.

Services impacted include phone and fax communications, online juror reporting, remote appearances, e-filing, the court website, and credit card payment processing. Jurors summoned for the week of October 28, particularly those in groups 138 through 150, have been excused from duty due to these complications.

The uncertainty surrounding the timeline for a full restoration of services continues to affect many individuals reliant on the court’s functionality. In light of the ongoing incident, court officials have expressed their regret for any concerns it may cause within the community and have asked for patience as they navigate the investigation and remediation process.

They are working diligently to address the issues and provide updates as necessary to keep the public informed about the progress being made. The commitment to restoring services highlights the court’s dedication to maintaining transparency and accountability during this challenging time.

This cybersecurity incident underscores the vulnerabilities that many institutions face in today’s digital landscape. The San Joaquin County Superior Court’s proactive response is essential for minimizing further risks and ensuring that they can resume normal operations as quickly as possible. As the investigation continues, the court’s ability to recover from this incident will be critical in restoring public trust and ensuring that justice remains accessible to all members of the community.
