Samsung Electronics has forged a new partnership with Poland’s Cyber Defense Force (WOC) to enhance cybersecurity efforts through joint research and development projects. The agreement, signed on November 21, 2024, sets the stage for collaboration on developing innovative technologies, equipment, and telecommunications solutions aimed at bolstering Poland’s national cybersecurity. This partnership will allow both entities to engage in testing and evaluating new technologies while sharing expertise to advance their collective capabilities in safeguarding cyberspace.
The initiative is not Samsung’s first involvement in Poland’s cybersecurity landscape. The company has been a part of the country’s cybersecurity cooperation program, led by the Ministry of Digital Affairs, since 2019. This program encourages collaboration between public and private sectors to strengthen the country’s defense mechanisms against emerging cyber threats. The new agreement expands this partnership, emphasizing the need for trusted collaborations to secure national security in cyberspace.
Gen. Karol Molenda, the Commander of the Cyber Defense Force, highlighted the critical role of trusted partnerships in ensuring the security of cyberspace. He expressed that working with reliable partners like Samsung is vital for enhancing the defensive capabilities of the Cyber Defense Force and understanding new, advanced technologies that can improve overall cybersecurity measures. As a specialized military unit, the WOC is responsible for cryptology, cybersecurity, and IT systems development within Poland’s Ministry of Defense.
Samsung’s presence in Poland dates back to the 1990s, with one of the country’s largest research and development centers established to further the company’s technological advancements, including in the cybersecurity domain. By expanding its collaboration with the Cyber Defense Force, Samsung aims to play a pivotal role in developing and implementing cutting-edge solutions to protect critical infrastructure and defend against evolving cyber threats. The partnership underscores both parties’ commitment to enhancing cybersecurity resilience and national security.
