An unfortunate incident occurred during the Easter holidays at Saint Cecilia’s, where the institution fell victim to a targeted ransomware attack. This attack had a significant impact on the school’s server and central Management Information System. A detailed communication was sent out to the school community on April 17th, outlining the situation. However, an updated position was provided to parents and carers directly on April 26th, in order to keep them informed about the latest developments.
To ensure all parents and carers are well-informed, Saint Cecilia’s has made the Cyber Incident Parent Letter of April 26th, 2024, accessible for those who may have missed it. Additionally, for further details on the original data breach and advice, stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the Data Breach Statement released on April 18th, 2024.
As part of the school’s response to the incident, children were given Emergency Contact Forms to take home unless they had already completed them in school. It’s crucial for these forms to be fully completed and returned to their mentor or Reception as soon as possible. Despite ongoing IT issues affecting phone and email systems, Saint Cecilia’s assures the community that efforts are being made to resolve these problems promptly. Regular updates will be posted on the school website, and stakeholders are encouraged to check for the latest information.
