Rightworks Acquires Practice Protect

Rightworks, a leading cloud service provider tailored for accounting professionals, has announced its acquisition of Practice Protect, a top cybersecurity firm based in Australia. This strategic move will integrate Practice Protect’s robust security features into Rightworks’ OneSpace platform, enhancing risk management, client data security, and regulatory compliance for accounting firms using both cloud and desktop applications.

The acquisition aims to provide accounting firms with advanced security solutions while maintaining seamless access to their applications. Practice Protect will also continue to operate independently in markets outside the US, including Australia and New Zealand, supported by its existing global team. This integration promises to advance the profession by strengthening data protection and efficiency for Rightworks’ clients.

Joel Hughes, CEO of Rightworks, expressed excitement about the acquisition, highlighting its role in furthering the company’s mission to offer secure, purpose-built cloud solutions for accounting professionals. Jamie Beresford, CEO of Practice Protect, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the alignment of the two companies’ missions and the enhanced protection against cyber threats.

As accounting firms increasingly adopt cloud technology, the need for robust cybersecurity solutions is critical. According to a Rightworks survey, technology positively impacts workplace efficiency and client services, making this acquisition timely and significant in addressing the ongoing challenge of cyber threats.
