Richardson Law Offices Investigates Breach

The Law Offices of Todd S. Richardson, P.L.L.C. recently notified clients about a data security incident that may have affected their personal information. The breach was discovered on September 26, 2023, when suspicious activity was detected in the firm’s email environment. Upon identifying the issue, the firm promptly secured the affected account, changing passwords and halting all external access to it. A thorough investigation was launched immediately to understand the scope of the incident and determine what information was compromised.

The investigation revealed that unauthorized access occurred between August 20 and September 26, 2023, involving a single email account at Richardson Law Offices. After a comprehensive review of the affected mailbox, the firm identified the individuals whose personal information may have been exposed. This process was concluded on August 21, 2024, and the firm has notified those individuals who were impacted by the incident, offering them details about the type of information involved.

Although there is no evidence to suggest that any personal information has been misused or exploited, the firm is taking preventive measures to protect affected individuals. As a precaution, Richardson Law Offices is offering complimentary identity theft protection services through Experian IdentityWorks for one month. The firm is also advising clients to remain vigilant by monitoring their financial accounts and credit reports for signs of fraudulent activity.

Richardson Law Offices remains committed to enhancing its security protocols and practices to safeguard personal information. The firm has worked with external cybersecurity experts and continues to assess and improve its security infrastructure to prevent similar incidents in the future. Clients are encouraged to take additional steps to protect their information, including placing fraud alerts on their credit files and requesting free credit reports.
