The DRM Report Q2 2023 provides a detailed analysis of the ransomware threat landscape between May and August 2023, focusing on the global rise of this digital menace.

In an era marked by increasing digitalization, ransomware has evolved into a formidable adversary, necessitating a comprehensive examination of its activities during the second quarter of 2023. The report shines a spotlight on the intricate web of ransomware activities worldwide, with a particular emphasis on Italy’s unique challenges in the digital realm.

This report unveils a world where cybercriminals operate audaciously, monitoring 165 criminal groups across the globe through vigilant OSINT DRM platforms that tracked 300 servers involved in ransomware activities. The data collected paints a vivid picture, revealing a total of 1,736 ransomware claims, with 53 incidents specifically targeting Italy. The geographical distribution of attacks and their impact on various business sectors is thoroughly explored, shedding light on emerging trends and threats.

Throughout the second quarter of 2023, ransomware attacks showed a concerning upward trend globally, with 412 attacks in May, 434 in June, 480 in July, and 410 in August. The report underlines Italy’s vulnerability with 53 recorded incidents during this period, emphasizing the importance of continuous vigilance and advanced mitigation strategies to safeguard national organizations, especially in Italy.

In conclusion, this report offers a comprehensive understanding of the ransomware threat landscape, aiming to enhance cybersecurity efforts and mitigate future ransomware attacks, recognizing that safeguarding our digital well-being in cyberspace is imperative.
