Spanish police have successfully dismantled a lucrative pirated TV streaming network that has generated over $5.7 million since its inception in 2015. The investigation, initiated in November 2022 following a complaint from the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), targeted two websites hosting the illegal IPTV service known as ‘TVMucho’ or ‘Teeveeing.’ These platforms provided unauthorized access to 130 international TV channels and thousands of films and series to approximately 14,000 subscribers.
The sophisticated criminal organization behind the operation employed advanced technology to capture, amplify, and decrypt satellite signals from various countries, distributing the content illegally to subscribers. Subscribers paid monthly or yearly fees, contributing to the network’s substantial profits. In a coordinated effort, Spanish police conducted raids across multiple cities, arresting eight individuals suspected of involvement in the IPTV scheme.
Law enforcement seized significant assets, including computers, monetary funds, and servers supporting 16 illegal streaming sites. Visitors to the dismantled websites are now redirected to a police notice, marking the end of the illicit streaming service. However, subscribers may face potential legal consequences as police now have access to server data, posing risks of fines for those who participated in the illegal activity.
