Philippines Fights Cyber Attack

The House of Representatives in the Philippines faces a substantial cyber threat as its ICTS Team detects a Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack on its website. Over 541.66 million attacks were recorded, originating from various countries, including Indonesia, the United States, Colombia, India, the Russian Federation, Tunisia, Thailand, and Greece. Despite the magnitude of the attack, the ICTS Team swiftly responded by blocking and managing the assaults through the Cloudflare service, ensuring the website’s availability and functionality.

Acknowledging the diligent efforts of the ICTS Team, the House of Representatives commends their adept handling of the cyber attack, emphasizing the crucial role of vigilant IT professionals in safeguarding against such threats. However, concerns persist regarding the origins and motives behind the attack, prompting calls for an investigation by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to ascertain whether it was perpetrated by local or foreign hackers, or a collaboration of both, and for what purpose.

As the Congress website serves as a vital source of information for the Filipino people, continuous vigilance against cyber attacks is imperative to ensure uninterrupted access to essential resources. The House of Representatives reaffirms its commitment to defending against malicious cyber activities and assures the public that the website remains secure and operational. With a resolute stance against hackers seeking to disrupt the institution, the House of Representatives remains steadfast in its dedication to serving the Filipino people.
