Ukrainian Hackers Attack Russian ISP Nodex

Pediatric Home Respiratory Services, LLC, also known as Pediatric Home Service, reported a data breach on January 8, 2024, to the Texas Attorney General. The company discovered that unauthorized individuals had accessed sensitive consumer information, including names, Social Security numbers, medical details, and health insurance data. Following the breach, Pediatric Home Service initiated a review of the compromised files to identify which individuals were affected, and started sending out notification letters to those impacted. However, the company did not provide extensive details about the cause of the breach in its initial filing.

The breach remains under investigation, and it is uncertain whether the incident was a cyberattack against Pediatric Home Service itself or if it occurred due to a third-party vendor’s security failure. Third-party breaches have become increasingly common as companies outsource operations, raising the risk of sensitive data being compromised. While more information is expected to be revealed, the company confirmed that an unauthorized party gained access to confidential data that had been entrusted to the company, leading to the breach.

Affected individuals may have had their personal data exposed, including names, Social Security numbers, addresses, and medical information. Pediatric Home Service has promised to provide individuals with details about the specific information compromised. The company has also assured that those affected by the breach will receive breach notification letters to help them understand the extent of the incident and the information impacted.

Pediatric Home Respiratory Services, LLC is a healthcare provider based in Roseville, Minnesota, offering specialized services for children with medical complexities. The company provides respiratory therapy, home medical equipment, and clinical pharmacy services, among others. With around 367 employees and an estimated annual revenue of $24 million, the company has committed to addressing the breach and notifying all affected individuals, although more details are anticipated to be disclosed as the investigation continues.
