Netherland Sewell Reports Ransomware Attack

Netherland, Sewell & Associates, Inc. (NSAI), a Dallas, Texas-based engineering provider, reported a ransomware attack on July 10, 2024, which disrupted its network and raised concerns about personal data exposure. The company promptly engaged legal and forensic experts to investigate and assess the attack’s impact. By August 16, 2024, NSAI discovered that personal information, potentially including Social Security numbers, might have been accessed by unauthorized actors.

In response to the incident, NSAI launched a comprehensive review of its systems to identify the affected data and implemented measures to secure its network against future breaches. The company has no evidence of data misuse but took proactive steps to notify individuals whose information may have been exposed. To support affected parties, NSAI is offering two years of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services.

NSAI emphasized its commitment to protecting personal information by strengthening its security protocols and providing resources for individuals to safeguard their data. The company has shared detailed guidance on enrolling in the monitoring services and encouraged individuals to monitor their credit reports and financial accounts for suspicious activity.

As part of its efforts to maintain transparency, NSAI provided a toll-free contact number for those with questions or concerns about the incident. The company expressed sincere apologies for any distress caused and reaffirmed its dedication to securing the data entrusted to its care. This incident has prompted NSAI to enhance its technical and administrative safeguards to mitigate future risks.
