Accenture Federal Services, a subsidiary of Accenture, has been awarded a significant $789 million contract by the U.S. Navy to enhance cybersecurity measures across its maritime forces globally. This contract is a key component of the SHARKCAGE initiative, which aims to establish a robust, unified security perimeter around the Navy’s networks and systems. The initiative underscores the Navy’s commitment to strengthening its cyber defenses in response to evolving threats and to protect critical infrastructure and sensitive data.
Under the terms of the contract, Accenture will work in close collaboration with the Navy’s Program Executive Office, Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence Program Manager, as well as the Warfare Cybersecurity teams. The partnership will focus on both ashore and afloat systems under the SHARKCAGE project, utilizing commercial and off-the-shelf technology. This integration is designed to provide advanced defensive cyberspace operations and analytics across several Navy networks including Information Technology-21, ONENet, and the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet.
Accenture’s responsibilities within this contract include the design, architecture, testing, production, delivery, installation, and logistics support of these integrated military systems. This comprehensive involvement ensures that Accenture plays a pivotal role in both the development and implementation of cybersecurity solutions tailored to the Navy’s specific operational needs. This strategic partnership is intended to leverage Accenture’s expertise in cybersecurity to significantly enhance the Navy’s capabilities in detecting and responding to potential cyber threats.
The contract extends for a ten-year period, comprising an initial five-year base with an option to extend for an additional five years. This long-term agreement reflects the ongoing commitment of the Navy and Accenture Federal Services to maintaining and improving the cybersecurity posture of naval operations worldwide. This initiative not only aims to safeguard the Navy’s substantial network assets but also enhances its operational readiness and defense capabilities in an increasingly digital and interconnected battlefield.
