MPG Pipeline Contractors, LLC, based in Texas, recently reported a data breach to the Attorney General of Montana. The incident, which was disclosed on August 2, 2024, involved unauthorized access to sensitive personal identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) stored within its systems. Although specific details surrounding the breach have not been fully disclosed, the company indicated that a range of sensitive data may have been compromised. This includes names, Social Security numbers, addresses, driver’s license numbers, financial information such as account numbers and credit or debit card information, as well as medical details.

In response to the data breach, MPG Pipeline Contractors has begun notifying affected individuals through data breach notification letters. The letters aim to inform those impacted about the potential exposure of their personal information, encouraging them to remain vigilant against any potential misuse of their data. As the investigation into the breach continues, the company is committed to reviewing its data security measures to prevent future incidents of this nature.

Founded in 2008, MPG Pipeline Contractors specializes in providing comprehensive pipeline construction services primarily to the oil and gas industry. With a headquarters in Houston, Texas, and an additional location in Louisiana, the company has successfully executed numerous projects across the continental United States. MPG constructs pipelines of varying diameters and has built a reputation for excellence in pipeline integrity management and maintenance, having completed over 20 projects for various clients in five states.

As the company navigates the aftermath of this data breach, it remains focused on transparency and accountability. MPG is likely to continue updating affected individuals as more information becomes available regarding the investigation and any further security measures being implemented. The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges organizations face in safeguarding sensitive information and the importance of effective data protection strategies.
