Mobile Medical Response Reports Data Breach

Mobile Medical Response, a provider of medical transportation and ambulance services based in Michigan, has reported an impermissible disclosure of patient information involving one of its business associates, CBM Services. The breach occurred when an unauthorized individual attempted to cash a check issued to Mobile Medical Response by CBM Services. This situation has raised concerns about the security of patient data, as the checks come with statements that include names of individuals related to the payments, potentially exposing sensitive information.

The statements that accompany the checks contain identifying details about individuals who have received transportation services from Mobile Medical Response. While the breach involved the disclosure of names, the organization has confirmed that sensitive information such as addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state identification numbers, financial account details, payment card information, medical diagnosis and treatment details, and health insurance information were not disclosed impermissibly. This distinction is crucial as it helps to mitigate the potential impact of the breach on affected individuals.

Currently, Mobile Medical Response is conducting a thorough investigation to assess the full scope and impact of the incident. The organization has reported that approximately 500 individuals may be affected by this breach, but the total number of impacted parties may change as the investigation progresses. Mobile Medical Response is committed to understanding the situation and ensuring that any necessary corrective actions are taken to prevent future occurrences.

As part of its response to this incident, Mobile Medical Response is prioritizing communication with affected individuals and relevant stakeholders. The organization aims to keep those impacted informed as it continues its investigation and works to enhance data security measures. By addressing the breach transparently and taking proactive steps, Mobile Medical Response seeks to maintain trust with its patients and uphold its commitment to providing safe and reliable medical transportation services.
