MERS Goodwill Data Breach Response

MERS Goodwill Industries, the result of a merger between Metropolitan Employment Rehabilitation Services and Missouri Goodwill Industries, has found itself at the center of a concerning data breach incident. The breach, which was brought to light in May 2024, had occurred over a brief period from March 10 to March 15, 2023. During this time frame, sensitive personal information, including names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and medical diagnosis details, may have been exposed.

Upon discovering the breach, MERS Goodwill swiftly initiated an extensive investigation into the incident to assess the extent of the compromise and determine the potential impact on affected individuals. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the organization promptly began the process of notifying all individuals whose data may have been compromised, ensuring transparency and providing necessary guidance to mitigate any adverse effects.

Despite the unsettling nature of the breach, MERS Goodwill remains steadfast in its commitment to serving the community and delivering essential programs and services. Headquartered in Saint Louis, Missouri, the organization continues to prioritize the well-being of its constituents while simultaneously taking proactive measures to bolster its cybersecurity infrastructure. By enhancing its protocols and implementing robust security measures, MERS Goodwill aims to safeguard against future incidents, reinforcing its dedication to protecting the privacy and security of all individuals associated with its programs and services.
