Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo has announced plans to form a dedicated data committee, which might become a data commission by March 2025. A notable development is the partnership between Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) and Cybersecurity Malaysia (CSM) to enhance 5G network security. This collaboration will lead to the creation of a National 5G Cybersecurity Testing Centre, enabling industry players to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security standards. The establishment of this testing center reflects Malaysia’s commitment to safeguarding its 5G infrastructure and addressing potential security threats.
As Malaysia advances its 5G rollout, which has achieved a 43.6% adoption rate, concerns about pricing and infrastructure remain. Minister Gobind assured that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will address pricing issues while emphasizing the critical role of 5G in driving national progress.
