MAC Pizza Data Breach Impacts Thousands

MAC Pizza Management recently filed a notice of a data breach with the Attorney General of Texas, revealing that confidential information belonging to thousands of individuals was compromised in a cyberattack on June 27, 2023. The unauthorized access resulted in the exposure of consumers’ names, Social Security numbers, and potentially driver’s license numbers. Following the confirmation of the data leak, MAC Pizza initiated the process of sending data breach notification letters to all affected individuals, notifying them of the security incident. Recipients of these notifications are urged to understand the risks involved and take steps to mitigate the potential impact on their personal information.

The breach, which was discovered on April 17, 2023, was the result of a ransomware attack on MAC Pizza Management. In response, the company launched an investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity specialists, informed law enforcement, and took measures to secure its systems. The unauthorized party had gained access to specific files on the company’s computer system, containing confidential consumer information. MAC Pizza conducted a thorough review of the compromised files to identify the extent of the breach and determine the impacted consumers. The breached information may include names, Social Security numbers, and, in some cases, driver’s license numbers if provided to MAC Pizza.

MAC Pizza Management, in its commitment to transparency, sent out data breach letters on June 26, 2023, to individuals whose information was compromised in the security incident. The company is advising affected individuals on steps they can take to protect themselves from potential identity theft and informing them of their legal options in the aftermath of the breach. As news of the breach is still developing, affected individuals are encouraged to stay informed about updates and follow recommended precautions to minimize the risks associated with the compromised data.”
