The LLO.lu team, responsible for the government-backed app designed to help users learn Luxembourgish, has acknowledged a significant data breach due to a recent cyberattack. In an email dated August 27, the team informed users that their email addresses might have been compromised in the attack. While this is the only personal information confirmed to be involved, the team strongly advises all LLO.lu account holders to change their passwords promptly as a precautionary measure.

In response to the breach, LLO.lu has expressed its commitment to enhancing the security of its database and user information. The team emphasized the seriousness of the incident, outlining that they have already implemented measures to prevent future occurrences. The organization is dedicated to ensuring that user data remains protected and that the integrity of the app is upheld, reflecting a proactive approach to cybersecurity.

The LLO.lu app, launched in September 2022 by the National Institute of Languages, aims to provide free and accessible resources for learning the Luxembourgish language. It offers various courses tailored to different proficiency levels, up to B1, making it a valuable tool for both residents and newcomers to Luxembourg. By facilitating language learning, the app promotes Luxembourgish culture and encourages greater community engagement.

Despite the setback from the cyberattack, the LLO.lu team remains focused on delivering quality educational resources and maintaining user trust. They are actively working on improving their security measures and are committed to keeping users informed about any updates related to the app’s safety and functionality. The team aims to reassure users of their dedication to protecting personal information and ensuring a safe learning environment for all.
