Lineaje, a pioneering startup specializing in software supply chain security, has successfully raised $20 million in Series A funding to advance its platform designed to address critical vulnerabilities in software ecosystems. Founded in 2021 by cybersecurity experts Javed Hasan and Anand Revashetti, Lineaje offers tools that detect tampered or outdated open-source software within a company’s supply chain. The platform not only identifies potential security risks but also provides recommendations to mitigate these issues, making it an essential tool for organizations looking to safeguard their technology infrastructure.
The urgency of Lineaje’s mission is underscored by a 2024 Ponemon Institute report revealing that over half of organizations have experienced a software supply chain attack, with 54% reporting such incidents within the past year. The financial impact of these attacks is substantial, with Juniper Research projecting global losses could reach nearly $81 billion by 2026. Recognizing these threats, the White House has introduced an executive order focused on improving software supply chain security, highlighting the national importance of such initiatives.
Lineaje’s new funding, co-led by Prosperity7 Ventures, Neotribe, and Hitachi, will significantly bolster its efforts to expand its services, particularly in the public sector. Hasan and Revashetti, who have extensive backgrounds with cybersecurity firms like Symantec and McAfee, emphasize the startup’s commitment to providing robust defense solutions. The company’s engagement with U.S. public sector clients, including support for the Air Force’s “Eagle Eyes” program, reflects its broader strategy to address the complex security challenges faced by government agencies and other high-stakes environments.
The Series A funding round, which also saw participation from Tenable Ventures, Carahsoft, Wipro Ventures, SecureOctane, and AlumniVentures, positions Lineaje for substantial growth. The capital will support the company’s plans to double its workforce and expand its market presence. With Lineaje’s platform poised to play a crucial role in securing software supply chains, the startup is set to become a key player in the ongoing battle against cyber threats and vulnerabilities affecting businesses and government entities alike.
