A major cyberattack has targeted Forum Sirius, the online ticketing service used by La Filature, a theater located in Mulhouse, Haut-Rhin, France. The breach, which occurred on June 28, compromised the personal information of approximately 51,000 users, including their surnames, first names, email addresses, telephone numbers, and postal addresses. Bank data was reportedly not affected by the attack.
The incident also potentially impacted patrons of other cultural institutions linked to Forum Sirius, including the Opéra national du Rhin, Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra, and Scène nationale. Elisa Beardmore, Secretary General of La Filature, assured that while the personal data of users was exposed, the service provider has taken necessary steps to secure the data and prevent further breaches.
In response to the attack, La Filature’s management notified affected users via email on July 3, informing them of the breach and detailing precautionary measures to mitigate potential risks. A security reset was performed to ensure that compromised passwords could no longer be used, and users were advised to take steps to protect their information.
Despite the breach, La Filature and its service provider have assured the public that immediate actions have been taken to safeguard against future incidents. The situation underscores the growing vulnerability of cultural institutions to cyber threats and highlights the importance of robust security measures in protecting personal data.
