Kinsler Family Dentistry has reported a serious data breach involving sensitive personal and health information. The incident came to light on June 6, 2024, when the dental practice detected suspicious activity that disrupted access to certain computer systems. Following this alarming discovery, Kinsler initiated an internal investigation to determine the scope and nature of the breach, aiming to identify any unauthorized access to patient information. This investigation revealed that personal data may have been accessed and taken by an unauthorized actor on the same day.

As the investigation progressed, Kinsler worked diligently to review the affected data and understand what information had been compromised. By July 19, 2024, the dental practice completed its assessment, determining that various types of sensitive information were potentially exposed. This included patient names, Social Security numbers, insurance numbers, and detailed dental treatment and medical histories. The practice took immediate action to mitigate the impact of the breach, including posting a notice on its website to inform patients about the incident.

In response to the breach, Kinsler began mailing personalized notification letters to all affected individuals on August 9, 2024. These letters included information about the specific types of data that had been compromised and offered complimentary credit monitoring services to assist patients in protecting their identities. Kinsler emphasized its commitment to patient privacy and safety, acknowledging the need to strengthen security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Located in Frankfort, Indiana, Kinsler Family Dentistry provides a comprehensive range of dental services, catering to the needs of individuals and families. The practice not only focuses on routine dental care, such as cleanings and exams but also offers advanced treatments like dental implants and cosmetic dentistry. Kinsler remains dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of its patients while navigating the growing challenges posed by cyber threats in the healthcare sector.
