The municipality’s thorough analysis indicates that while a majority of digital systems are operational, a phased restoration plan is in place for the remaining affected systems.
The attack has necessitated adaptations in operations across various municipal services. Libraries, for instance, are open but with limited service, allowing a maximum of two book/media loans per day. To manage system error-induced delays, borrowers are urged to defer book returns. School teaching in Kalmar municipality’s sports arenas continues as usual. However, association events in municipal sports halls during the weekend are adapting with specific limitations, as new bookings are temporarily halted to manage existing schedules.
Elite sports matches scheduled for the weekend are facing potential cancellations due to the cyberattack, particularly those broadcast online or on TV. Despite these challenges, alternative solutions have been found for all elite matches to proceed as planned. Some e-services, including error reporting and civil marriage applications, are currently unavailable. Citizens who managed to use the e-service for a civil marriage until February 8, 2024, are advised to contact the municipality’s contact center for further assistance.
