Jersey Shore Steel Reports Data Breach

Jersey Shore Steel Company (JSS Co.) recently informed individuals of a data security incident that may have compromised their personal information. The breach involved unauthorized access to certain sensitive data stored by the company. Upon discovering the incident, JSS Co. took immediate steps to contain the breach and launched an investigation to determine the scope of the incident. As a precautionary measure, the company began notifying all potentially affected individuals to ensure they are aware of the situation and can take steps to protect their personal information.

To help mitigate the potential risks associated with the breach, JSS Co. has partnered with Kroll, a global leader in risk mitigation and response, to provide complimentary identity monitoring services to affected individuals for 24 months. These services include credit monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration. The company emphasized that while they cannot activate these services on behalf of the individuals due to privacy laws, they strongly encourage everyone to take advantage of this offer to safeguard their personal information.

In addition to activating the credit monitoring services, JSS Co. advised individuals to remain vigilant by regularly reviewing their account statements and credit history for any signs of unauthorized activity. The company recommended that if any suspicious activity is detected, individuals should immediately change their passwords, notify their financial institutions, and take any necessary steps to secure their accounts. JSS Co. also urged individuals to report any suspicious incidents to local law enforcement and the Massachusetts Attorney General to ensure that any fraudulent activities are promptly addressed.

JSS Co. provided additional resources and guidance on how individuals can protect themselves against fraud and identity theft. This includes detailed information on steps to monitor and safeguard personal information, as well as instructions on placing security freezes on credit reports to prevent unauthorized access. The company expressed its commitment to supporting affected individuals through this incident and reiterated its dedication to improving data security measures to prevent future breaches.
